| Sunday, April 25, 2004 hi. im so damn glad im not alone. yes i woke up from my afternoon nap feeling like crap: another one of those "there goes" moments. or as slightly-high yuanxiang puts it, "odac wan le (finished)". the weight of those words (thoughts?) bears down on me. especially in the wake of another of our awesome events. i loved this weekend... despite all the shit it dealt me: like a few million cuts and grazes from sleeping on the sand, a bashed finger and painful diarrhea. worth it? definitely. yea it was not perfect and all... quite disappointed the way most ppl decided to sleep away in the comfy hotel room rather than spend the night roaming the island but why the hell am i complaining? yea, it was good. the soccer, the swimming, the bbq, the table tennis, the singing, the people: to die for. took me damn long to realise this fact, but it is really not the things we do, but the people we do it with... that is what matters the most. so be it cheonging mountains, having slack chalets, spending time mugging together, even that ten or so minutes spent eating lunch together... whatever we do is not of primary concern; it is the mere fact that i can use the pronoun "WE" before the word do... my simple conclusion is this: "odac wan le" my foot. yes we may not be able to cheong mountains, maybe not have anymore chalets or sleepovers for a long time, but there is always the lunches and dinners, the countless hours spent in the odac room mugging, the mini-excursions to holland v, even the few moments we spend at the odac table each morning, before assembly... and there is always the "WE". certainly not much to play for, but in a way, these things are odac for me as well. hanging on to what little left is left, and making the best of it. and as we move on, do you feel the emptiness inside? yes, i do. but i take mild comfort in the fact that somewhere out there, at least one of us is probably thinking the same way... |
